Fox News contributor Dr. Kelly Powers has died at the age of 45

Fox News contributor and medical expert Dr. Kelly Powers has died following a battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. She was 45.

The New York native died Sunday in New Jersey, according to an online obituary posted by Holmdel Funeral Home, where viewing will be held Thursday. Powers spent the last few years living in Colts Neck with her family.

“She was a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere,” the obituary reads. “Kelly loved people and was committed to helping others. …Kelly was an accomplished physician and surgeon who appeared in the spotlight on television and in magazines several times. The most important thing to her was her family.”

Powers was born on May 13, 1979 in Yonkers and attended Baruch College in New York City before training at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. She then earned a master’s degree in science from the University of San Francisco and participated in residency programs at Georgetown and Boston University.

Powers continued to appear frequently as a medical expert on Fox News and Fox Business, as well as on CNN, NBC and CBS.

In 2020, the doctor was diagnosed with glioblastoma, described as one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. She appeared to have won her battle after successfully having a tumor removed, but the cancer returned sometime this year, according to her friend and Fox media colleague Cheryl Casone.

Powers is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, and their young son, Bennett.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Tower Hill Church in Red Bank, New Jersey
