SIOUX CITY (KTIV) –

TODAY, TONIGHT AND

TOMORROW’S FORECAST REPORT:

Most of your Friday will be calm, cloudy, windy and cold, but our attention turns to the later hours of Friday as we predict sleet and ice will impact all of Siouxland.

The National Weather Service has implemented a winter weather advisory for all of Siouxland beginning Friday afternoon and continuing through early Saturday.

If we miss this, we will begin to see wintry weather along and south of HWY 20 around 5:00 p.m.

Around 7 and 8 p.m. we will see the winter weather continue to spread across Siouxland.

The pink color on the radar is the wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain.

The wintry mix will last into the early hours of Friday.

We could see another round of wintry mix moving in early Saturday morning.

Again, this could be either sleet or freezing rain falling over Siouxland.

That’s what we’re predicting at this point in terms of ice.

If you live in the yellow, you might see a glaze of a tenth of an inch of ice.

If you live in the Orange, you can see most of the effects of the ice. We assume you can expect between a tenth of an inch and a quarter of an inch of ice.

This will cause a lot of travel issues this weekend.

We are forecasting mostly ice and sleet, but there is a small chance of light snow.

Most of the time the amount of snow stays under 2.5 cm.

Due to the wintry weather, we have issued a first day weather alert for Friday and Saturday.

The main focus of this storm will once again be ice and sleet.

Aside from the wintry weather, your Friday will be mostly calm as clouds increase throughout the day.

The wind is also getting stronger, making it windy and a bit cold during the day.

Highs will be in the mid to low 20s.

Sleet and freezing rain will begin to arrive in the afternoon and evening.

Tonight’s focus is on the sleet and freezing rain falling across Siouxland.

Lows will be in the teens and lower 20s.

We predict we will see a trace of just under a quarter of an inch of ice.

Your Saturday will start with a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain, but as the day progresses the wintry mix will end.

The maximum temperatures during the day on Saturday will be around 32 degrees.

ADVANCED FORECAST:

Whatever falls on Friday and Saturday will remain until Saturday night and Sunday.

The good news is that things will melt by Sunday and Monday. We forecast highs into the 40s.

Cold air will move in again by the end of next week as highs will be in the 20s and 30s.
