Gavin Creel Broadway Memorial Celebration Live Stream: How to Watch

The memorial service for late Broadway star Gavin Creel will be livestreamed in both the US and UK today, with New York’s MCC Theater hosting the US stream and the Society of London Theater hosting the UK.

The public memorial service at Broadway’s St. James Theater begins today, Monday, December 2, at 4:00 p.m. ET. In the US, the livestream, hosted by MCC Theater on Off Broadway, will be available on MCC’s YouTube channel.

In the UK, the stream, hosted by SOLT’s official London Theater YouTube channel, begins at 9pm GMT. Once the event is over, it will no longer be available to watch on-demand.

Creel, a tireless LGBTQ+ advocate who appeared on Broadway in 2011 The Book of Mormon, Hair, Waitress, Into The Woods and, in a Tony-winning performance, Hello, Dolly!died on September 30th at the age of just 48 from a rare, aggressive cancer. His death caused great sadness in the Broadway community.

The MCC Theater presented Creel’s original musical Move On: Confessions of a Museum Newbie from November 13, 2023 to January 7, 2024. In London, Creel became an Olivier Award winner and recognized for his charity work, particularly for Acting For Others.

Donations in his memory are encouraged to be made to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

In his honor, Broadway will dim the marquee lights on December 3 at 6:45 p.m. ET. The Off Broadway MCC will also dim its lights along with the Broadway theaters.
