Georgia QB Carson Beck is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft

Carson Beck is leaving Georgia and entering the 2025 NFL Draft, the Bulldogs quarterback announced Saturday.

Beck, 23, thanked his Georgia teammates and coaches on Instagram and wrote that he would support the Bulldogs as they head to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals against No. 7 Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday.

First of all, I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the game that I love. For the ups and downs, the ups and downs, everything this game creates and offers, I am forever grateful. Football has taught me lessons that will last a lifetime and has made me the person I am today.

I am so grateful to my family and those close to me for the support they have given me throughout this journey. They have always had my back no matter what the circumstances and I can’t thank them enough for that.

To Coach Smart, Coach Bobo, and the rest of the coaches who served at UGA during my tenure, thank you for your wisdom, your unwavering support, and most of all, for the time you sacrificed, not just for me, but for them many others who came before and after. Thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead this team. It was a blessing and I am forever grateful.

To my teammates: I’ve been fortunate to not only play with so many talented guys, but also guys who are good people. So many bonds have been formed that will last a lifetime, and I will miss the people in that locker room the most. I enjoyed every second with you and love you like brothers. It was an honor and I wouldn’t want to go to war with anyone else. There is still a lot to do this season and I will be here to support however I can and finish strong!

The last five years at the University of Georgia have been the realization of a dream and I will forever cherish the memories created. Thank you to Dawg Nation for the time I spent here and to everyone who supported me and believed in me. It was an incredible journey and all of these moments ultimately led me to take the next step in my football career. With that in mind, I will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Go buddy! #AO1

Beck underwent successful surgery on Monday to repair the UCL in his right elbow and is out for the remainder of the season. He suffered the injury in the first half of the SEC championship game against Texas on Dec. 7 and is expected to make a full recovery.

Gunner Stockton, a redshirt sophomore who replaced Beck in the Texas game, will start against Notre Dame.

Beck, who is in his fifth year at Georgia, will turn pro despite having another year of eligibility due to COVID-19 in 2020.

In 13 games this season, Beck threw for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was a 24-3 starter over the past two seasons, was a two-time finalist for the Manning Award and finished his career with 7,426 passing yards and 52 touchdowns.

Beck wasn’t taken in the first round of Yahoo Sports’ latest NFL mock draft, but if he can show scouts he can throw before April, that could improve his stock.
