Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito ruled out against Ravens with concussion

New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito left the team’s game against the Baltimore Ravens in the second quarter and was ruled out due to a concussion.

DeVito went to the locker room as the Giants gained possession just before halftime. Backup quarterback Tim Boyle came on for the final play of the half and stayed on for the following half. Sunday’s game was DeVito’s first in three weeks after missing the previous two games due to a forearm bruise. Drew Lock started in those games but was sidelined this week with a heel injury.

DeVito led the Giants on a scoring drive to get New York on the field and bring his team within a touchdown, 14-7. He was 10 of 13 passing for 68 yards before leaving the game. Boyle led the Giants to a touchdown in the second half and completed 12 of 24 pass attempts for 123 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the 35-14 loss.

As a starter, DeVito is 3-4 in his career and 0-1 in 2024. The 26-year-old quarterback has 1,358 passing yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions in his NFL career.

Boyle is the fourth quarterback the Giants have drafted in 2024, joining DeVito, Lock and Daniel Jones. The Giants are the six-year veteran’s sixth team, as he previously played for the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. He played two games for the Dolphins this year and threw for 153 yards. In his career, the 30-year-old had 1,210 passing yards, five touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

More QB mix for the Giants

Since Jones was fired a month ago, keeping tabs on the Giants’ quarterback has become a game in itself. The Giants passed backup Lock in favor of third man DeVito in the team’s first game without Jones. But DeVito was injured, so the Giants had to use Lock on a short week. While Lock lasted two straight games, he was injured in the team’s loss to the Saints last weekend. Lock was in a walker until Friday, forcing the Giants to turn back to DeVito. Now there is Boyle, who was only brought in when Jones was on the bench for the last time this season. – Charlotte Carroll, Giants beat writer
