‘GMA’ fans are rallying around Lara Spencer over alarming health news

It looks like this Lara Spencer will spend some time in peace – in the truest sense of the word.

The Good morning America Star is usually on the go when it comes to her busy work life. But ahead of the Christmas season, Lara gave a surprising update on her health that stunned her followers. She shared on Instagram that she recently underwent two surgeries at the Hospital for Special Surgery after sustaining injuries to both feet. She also posted photos with the surgeon Dr. Martin O’Malley As she showed off her bandaged feet, she delved a little deeper into what motivated her to undergo the procedures in the first place.

“If I look a little dazed, it’s thanks to this guy who just gave me a new pair of boots,” she joked in the caption on Dec. 11. “My right foot was fine – I just had the plate removed after surgery last year. The left one is a bigger deal from a very old college diving injury where I hit the board a time and a half, shattering my toes and joints. Back then they said all you could do was tape it up, let it heal, and live with the pain. Today there are much better options, thanks to surgeons like Dr. Marty O’Malley of HSS. These boots were made for walking.

When Lara’s followers learned what had happened, they immediately united and wished her well in her recovery.

“Oh my god @lara.spencer I hope you heal quickly and painlessly ❤️,” one person wrote in the comments. “Ouchhhh! Speedy recovery! 💕💕💕💕💕💕,” another replied. “Ouch Lara!! Feel better ❤️🩹 I didn’t know that about your feet 🦶. 🙏 🙏 for you,” another follower added.

Given that Lara can’t exactly be on her feet right now, people shouldn’t expect her to show up GMA anytime soon. But as a fellow co-host George Stephanopoulos When she called on-air to check in on her on Dec. 13, she gave an update on how she was doing.

“Yeah, just sit back, you know, relax. The Uzhe,” she said on the radio People. “Ah yes, I’m fine. Thanks, George, for asking. Everything is fine.”

Lara attended Penn State University on an athletic scholarship for springboard and platform diving. She later graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism and was named an All American Athlete her senior year.

We wish Lara all the best and a speedy recovery!
