Goga Bitadze was sent off after an altercation with Kristaps Porzingis in the Magic’s win

A heated game between the Celtics and Magic turned physical in the fourth quarter Monday night and resulted in the ejection of Goga Bitadze at Amway Arena.

The incident occurred with 3:36 left in the fourth quarter with the Magic holding a 103-93 lead. A dead ball occurred following a foul on Kentavious Caldwell-Pope following a 3-point attempt by Derrick White. Kristaps Porzingis and Jalen Suggs chirped at each other after the play and Porzingis quickly approached Suggs after the two exchanged words .

Bitadze immediately entered the fight and tried to separate the two by grabbing Porzingis by the throat. The Celtics center had trouble physically reacting and pushed Bitadze away, and the duo was immediately separated by several Celtics and Magic players.

The referees immediately reviewed the play and the foul after a coach was challenged by the Magic. Porzingis and Suggs were given double technical penalties for their verbal altercation, while Bitadze was sent off for grabbing Porzingis by the throat. Wendell Carter Jr. replaced Bitadze after his expulsion.

The foul was also reversed on Caldwell-Pope, resulting in a jump ball at half court in the decisive sequence. The Celtics went on an 11-2 run after the sequence and cut the Magic lead to 104-105 with 59 seconds left. However, Orlando was able to defend its 108-104 victory after a crucial three-pointer from Tristan da Silva.
