My analysis

Kirill Kaprizov is currently the leader in the Hart Trophy odds, which is well deserved. He has carried the Minnesota Wild this season, leading the team in goals, assists and points in 29 games.

Kaprizov is second in the NHL with 20 goals and has now buried the puck 13 times in his last 16 games. That success looks set to continue against the Vegas Golden Knights, a team for which he has scored eight times in the last 12 meetings.

Vegas has struggled in the defensive zone this year due to several variables. Firstly, it allows for high-danger scoring opportunities to a high degree and is ranked 22nd in the xGA/60 ranking.

Secondly, the Knights struggle with a penalty kill rate of just 78.7%, putting them in the bottom half of the league in this category as well. This variable could prove particularly costly against Kaprizov, who serves as the primary trigger on the first power play unit.
