Google Fiber is now available in the 2nd Phoenix City metro area

PHOENIX – Chandler recently became the second metro area in Phoenix with access to Google Fiber.

High-speed internet service debuted in the East Valley city last month, a year after construction began.

Google Fiber, also known as GFiber, made its Arizona debut in Mesa in March 2023. Next up is Queen Creek, where the service is expected to debut in 2025.

Potential customers can visit the company’s website to find out if Google Fiber is available at their home or business or sign up for updates.

What makes Google Fiber different from other internet services?

The fiber optic link is made of glass strands and uses lasers to transmit information at speeds close to the speed of light.

The service offers several tariffs with upload and download speeds of up to 8 gigabits per second at the currently highest level.

Google faces competition in the East Valley from AT&T Fiber, which became available in October to about 16,000 homes in Mesa, Gilbert and Chandler.

AT&T Fiber’s top speed is 5 gigabits per second, making it superior to cable internet options but behind Google’s capabilities.
