Gracie Abrams mourns the end of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour: ‘I’m emotional’

Gracie Abrams also can’t get over the end of the Eras Tour.

Abrams, who opened for Taylor Swift on 49 stops of her record-breaking Eras Tour, reveals what she learned about pop superstar status along the way.

“I feel emotional and grateful and shocked that we as a global community will no longer be allowed to experience this source of light,” Abrams said in an interview with Nylon published Tuesday.

Like other Swifties, she turned to Instagram to see snippets of the shows she couldn’t attend, she told the outlet.

After 149 stops and countless surprise songs, the Eras Tour ended earlier this month with a show in Vancouver, Canada, featuring Abrams.

“Everyone cried all day. It felt like the last day of school backstage,” she told Nylon. “Everyone was walking around with their (Eras Tour) books and signing each other’s books.”

Not long ago, the 25-year-old singer was a rising star, but now she’s a certified pop sensation — her breakup anthem “That’s So True” has been skyrocketing and climbing up the charts in the last month.

Her audience and Swift’s are less of a Venn diagram and more of a circle – both women exploiting their own separation anxiety to write honest and narrative heartbreak pop. Fans can empathize with the songs, which focus on the female perspective and don’t shy away from the mess of emotions that love can bring.

Abrams also worked with Aaron Dressner, a musician and producer behind Swift’s two pandemic albums, “Evermore” and “Folklore.”

Abrams’ meteoric rise is thanks in part to the online popularity of her catchy songs and her place in Swift’s orbit. Abrams joined the ranks of Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter and entered what can only be called the Taylor Swift School of Career Growth.

Swift, who often hires big-name artists to collaborate on her own work but rarely makes guest appearances on other albums, even lent her voice to “Us,” a regret-filled track on Abrams’ latest release, “The Secret of Us.”

As tour participants got a taste of Abrams’ new album, which included hits like “Risk” and “Close to You,” her status quickly changed from minor indie artist to star singer.

“I also just soaked up every moment of her show,” the singer told Nylon. “Basically, I’ve been studying it for a year and a half. Every time I open for them, I watch and learn. I learned from her every time we talked about the weather, even.”
