Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings: Important information and discussion about the first quarter

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! We are only half an hour away from kick-off at US Bank Stadium and the big duel between the Green Bay Packers and our Minnesota Vikings. Here’s everything you need to know to get familiar with today’s game.

Date and time: Sunday, December 29, 2024, 3:25 p.m. central

Location: US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

TV reporting: KMSP-9 in the Twin Cities, FOX affiliates nationwide

Radio reporting: Vikings Radio NetworkSiriusXM channel 226 (Vikings feed), SiriusXM app channel 820

line: Vikings -1.5, Over/Under 48.5

Chris’ prediction: Vikings 27, Packers 24

Three keys

1) Slow down Josh Jacobs – Green Bay’s offense runs through Jacobs, who is having a very good season and has been even better in recent weeks. By keeping Jacobs in check and keeping Green Bay’s offense behind the scenes, the Vikings can be more defensive and potentially pressure Jordan Love.

2) Feed on the home crowd – The people in the stands at US Bank Stadium should be pretty loud given the size of this game today. If the Vikings can give them a few things to look forward to early, it should be relatively easy to get the building going and make things harder for the visiting team.

3) Keep playing smart football – Sam Darnold has thrown just one interception in the last six weeks, and that trend needs to continue this season. The Packers have committed a lot of turnovers this year, but if the Vikings can give Darnold time, there should be plenty of mismatches for him to exploit downfield against Green Bay’s defense.

That should be all you need to get up to speed on this thing, folks. Remember that a new open thread starts at the beginning of each quarter. So keep your eyes open and move the discussion forward accordingly.

We hope that after this game we can all come together and celebrate the fact that the Vikings are just one win away from ensuring that the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC runs through US Bank Stadium.

SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
