Green Bay vs. Drake Prediction, Odds, Tip for College Basketball

It’s time to continue our college basketball odds series with a Green Bay Drake prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Green Bay-Drake.

The Drake Bulldogs are having a special season under new coach Ben McCollum. Drake is one of the big stories of the non-conference portion of the college basketball campaign. The Bulldogs are undefeated and have several wins against power conference opponents. Earlier in the season, Drake defeated Miami and Vanderbilt. Earlier this week, Drake traveled to Kansas City and defeated the Kansas State Wildcats in a wild game. One of the more notable aspects of this game was that it was Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang’s first overtime loss in 13 tries (12-1). Drake showed a lot of toughness to win this game.

Drake took a 29-9 lead and appeared to have the game firmly in control, but Kansas State not only managed to tie the game, but also grabbed a three-point lead late in regulation. Drake could have allowed the situation to spiral completely out of control, but the Bulldogs managed to pull away late in regulation, force overtime and dig deep enough to win. Another special aspect of this Drake win was that three Bulldog players played at least 39 minutes in regulation time, while only two Kansas State players played more than 30 minutes in regulation time. Kansas State should have had the fresher players in overtime, with a longer rotation and fewer players who were overwhelmed. Still, Drake’s core lineup managed to stay the course and play great defense. Kansas State scored just one field goal in the final 9.5 minutes of the game – four and a half minutes left in regulation, followed by the five-minute overtime period.

Drake is just very tough and the Bulldogs appear to have found a great coach in McCollum, who will take over the baton from Darian DeVries, who took over the open head coaching position at West Virginia last offseason.

Drake hosts a Green Bay team best known for having professional public speaker Doug Gottlieb as its head coach. Gottlieb continues to host his shows while also taking on head coaching duties. It will be a constant topic of conversation as long as Green Bay struggles. Right now, the Phoenix are going through the motions after losing to Michigan Tech, a non-Division I school. We’ll see what Gottlieb can do against McCollum and a Drake team that’s on the rise these days leading up to Christmas.

The Bulldogs expect to play a steady, consistent game where they make Green Bay difficult at every turn. This is what you expect from a big favorite.
