Hannah Stuelke’s late upset helps Iowa women’s basketball beat UNI

IOWA CITY — The Iowa women’s basketball program hasn’t lost much over the past two and a half seasons. But when losses occurred, the Hawkeyes typically responded forcefully.

The Hawkeyes took care of their business against feisty Northern Iowa on Friday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, although it wasn’t the wind they might have expected after jumping out to a 13-point lead in the first quarter and 16 at halftime had points.

Iowa never trailed, but used a late shot from Hannah Stuelke to claim a 92-86 victory in front of a loud home crowd and secure an unofficial state championship.

Iowa won the in-state series with wins over Drake, Iowa State and now Tanya Warren’s Panthers.
