Harry Potter’s tour is as cool as the upcoming attractions revealed

Snow and ice always look so beautiful on the big screen.

Crisp, clean, charming – and very different from the mud that mars roads and rails in real life, or the slippery surfaces that turn sidewalks into assault routes.

So many festive films rely heavily on the weather in important parts of their plots or in intriguing subplots, but one of the most famous titles in recent years featured snow and used it to tremendous effect, but was anything but a Christmas film.

If you’ve seen the Harry Potter series, you’ll no doubt know what I mean – and if you’re a fan of it, you can currently get up close and personal with some of the famous snow scenes and shots.

Visitors to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter in Leavesden can experience the magic of the popular film Hogwarts in the Snow, which officially opened a few weeks ago and runs until mid-January.

The tour is a wonderful attraction at any time of year, but the annual layer of snow and ice adds another layer that is, appropriately, quite magical.

The magnificent Great Hall is now decorated with festive scenes from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

The tour begins in this famous setting and is breathtaking enough as soon as the doors open.

However, the added details at this time of year bring the whole thing even more to life, as guests can get a real sense of what winter and Christmas at Hogwarts might feel and look like.

For the first time this year, fans can attend a demonstration of the animatronic head of Hagrid used in the Harry Potter film series and witness the enchanting snow scene as Hagrid drags a giant Christmas tree through the grounds of Hogwarts.

There’s a lot to learn about how Hagrid was made so great for the uninitiated – it’s worth a long stop on your tour, and I definitely won’t give it away here.

In fact, there is so much detail and information on the Harry Potter tour that you could easily get lost in it for several hours.

New addition this year

Brand new to the tour this year is a frozen Hogwarts fountain – as seen in the Bell Tower courtyard in the Harry Potter film series.

It definitely grabs attention at the “halfway point” of the tour, which takes you from one of the sound stages outside and into the outdoor backlot area of ​​the tour.

During this part of the tour, guests also have the opportunity to sample a drop of Butterbeer and take a leisurely stroll through 4 Privet Drive, the house where Harry slept in a cupboard under the stairs while staying with his insufferable uncle, his Aunt and other lived cousin.

Elsewhere, many popular sets have been re-dressed for the season and now look completely different.

The Gryffindor common room is now littered with Christmas decorations, the Forbidden Forest is just as spooky despite the layer of snow, and Diagon Alley is now even more of a hotspot for selfie-lovers who are now dressed in festive finery.

Observant visitors can uncover the hidden location of miniature snowmen and discover the filmmaking secrets behind creating flames that never burn and ice that never melts.

Breathtaking finale

The breathtaking conclusion to the tour is always the Hogwarts castle model, which, as the name of the feature suggests, is covered by a blanket of snow created by the filmmakers.

It’s the perfect backdrop for a photo and there’s a lot to read and learn about just this one prop.

“Hogwarts in the Snow” runs until January 19, 2025, before the popular “Magical Mischief” film hits the studio tour.

Coming in 2025

Neville will return to the Magical Mischief film in 2025 along with Professor Umbridge and the swinging pendulum, the floating cake and Harry’s flying acceptance letters.

Fans who have ever seen the Magical Mischief film will remember the iconic scene where Neville is tormented by Cornish Pixies.

Visitors can now experience this moment in its new film-accurate home, the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom.

The filmmakers worked hard to bring the chaos of this spectacle to life by allowing visitors to see Neville move while hanging from the classroom ceiling, a stunt never seen before on the studio tour.

Fans will be transported into Gilderoy Lockhart’s lesson and witness the gnomes’ mischievous antics first hand.
