“He will leave office in disgrace”

“He will leave office in disgrace”

Conservative CNN commentator Scott Jennings firmly rejected his liberal colleagues’ rosy predictions about President Biden’s legacy, claiming the 82-year-old will end his presidency “in disgrace” during a spirited panel debate.

Panelist, Democrat Karen Finney, galvanized Jennings on Sunday by positing that Biden’s record and achievements will “stand the test of time,” despite legitimate issues with his mental acuity.

“It was very worrying to learn late in the year how poor his health had become. And like many others, I didn’t realize it had come to this,” Finney insisted on CNN’s “State of the Union” panel on Sunday.

“Still, I think he signed up for the job. He got the job done. I think some of the achievements in the Middle East and in foreign policy will also stand the test of time.”

Finney appeared to be alluding to a recent Wall Street Journal article and other recent reports that portrayed Biden in a diminished cognitive state during his first term.

She also cited Biden’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and signing of the CHIPS and Science ACT to bolster domestic semiconductor production as important bright spots for his legacy.

Jennings wasn’t having it.

“Do you think the Middle East is in better shape today than when he took office?” he interjected.

“I think he will leave office in disgrace! The Hunter Biden pardon was a disgrace. He will be remembered above all for inflation and the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan,” he added.

The CNN panel largely agreed that efforts to hide President Biden’s cognitive condition could harm his legacy. CNN

The Republican strategist, who has advised Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), also argued that covering up Biden’s mental acuity will overshadow his legacy.

“We still don’t know to what extent they tried to hide their activities in the West Wing,” he said.

Former South Carolina state Rep. Bakari Sellers (D) suggested that President-elect Donald Trump will be the one to leave a legacy of shame.

“Being accused twice is a disgrace. So that’s a difference. I think Joe Biden will be remembered in the short term because of what you talked about, whether he had the ability to lead or not,” he said.

“In the long run, this is someone very similar to Mitch McConnell. You don’t necessarily have to agree with everything they stood for. You don’t have to agree with every vote. But you always knew that the American people came first.”

Republican pollster and panelist Kristen Soltis Anderson suggested that “he will be remembered in the short term in part by feelings of buyer’s remorse.”

“Many voters feel like they haven’t come out of these four years with a world that feels more stable, an economy that feels better,” she posited. “That’s why Donald Trump is coming back, which leads to this longer-term legacy.”

She argued that Biden’s decision not to pass the baton sooner would be a stain on his legacy.

Biden, 82, is the oldest sitting president in US history. However, the 78-year-old Trump will surpass that number by several months if he serves a full term.
