Here’s how to watch all of Nate Bargatze’s stand-up specials

Nate Bargatze has been serving up family-friendly jokes for more than two decades.

The Grammy-nominated stand-up comedian, who grew up in Nashville and was raised by Christian parents, is known for his crisp, wholesome comedy.

“(Clean comedy) is all we could see (as kids),” Bargatze said Deseret News in 2023. “I knew I would never be dirty. I was always clean. When people of all ages come out in my shows, it’s grandmothers all the way up to 9 year olds. … I think it’s great that it can resonate with so many people.”

Bargatze performed in front of small audiences for years before rising to fame with his first Netflix comedy special in 2019: The Tennessee Kid. Within five years he filmed four more specials, including Launch The Nateland Podcast, and host Saturday Night Live (twice!).

“I want to make (people) laugh so hard that they cry or have to stop the car,” Bargatze told CBS News in April 2024.

Now the comedian is preparing for his Big Dumb Eyes World Tour, which begins in April 2025. Together with his father Stephen – a professional clown turned magician – he will make over 60 stops in North America, Europe and the Middle East as an opening act.

Bargatze’s first comedy special, full time magic, was filmed at the Gramercy Theater in New York City and premiered on May 2, 2015. The hour-long set proves that the comic is not immune to embarrassing situations like “the prospect of fighting on a boat with his wife’s ex-boyfriend or (…) almost getting into a fight at McDonald’s,” says in the official summary.

The standups (2017)

Netflixs The standups – a series that showcases up-and-coming comics – premiered in July 2017 and Bargatze appeared in Season 1, Episode 1. During his 30-minute set, filmed at Cicada in Los Angeles, he jokes about entertaining the incarcerated, buying hammocks and touring a house with exotic reptiles.

The Tennessee Kid (2019)

Bargatze’s first hour-long Netflix comedy special, The Tennessee Kidwas filmed at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, Georgia and premiered on March 26, 2019. For 60 hilarious minutes, he pokes fun at the absurdity of everyday life – think air travel, cheap weddings, college football and ordering coffee.

The tallest average American (2021)

Netflix released The tallest average American on March 18, 2021. Bargatze filmed the hour-long comedy special outdoors at Universal Studios Hollywood while adhering to COVID-19 protocols – attendees wore masks and sat at least 6 feet apart.

According to the official synopsis, “The comic reflects on being part of the Oregon Trail generation, meeting his wife while working at Applebee’s, and the relatable moments of being a father and husband.”

Hello World (2023)

Filmed at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix, Hello World was Bargatze’s first comedy special exclusively for Amazon Prime Video. It premiered on January 30, 2023, and the Nashville native “provides his opinion on a variety of topics, including the downsides of being a firstborn, the challenges of playing golf with your wife, and what happens when a bald eagle touches your head,” per Amazon.

Nashville Christmaswhich aired on CBS on December 19, was produced by Saturday Night Live Creator Lorne Michaels and filmed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. The variety show features holiday-themed stand-up and sketch comedy from Bargatze as well as special guests such as Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Noah Kahan and Jelly Roll.

The entertainer’s latest Netflix comedy special, Your friend, Nate Bargatzewas released on December 24th. During the stand-up hour, according to the official summary, Bargatze deals with “pizza ordering strategies for men’s night, the desire for a second dog and dependence on his responsible wife.”

Nate Bargatzes Saturday Night Live episodes

Bargatze was the host Saturday Night Live twice. His appearance on Season 49, Episode 3 on October 28, 2023, includes skits in which Bargatze portrays George Washington, a chef on a cooking show, and a passenger on an airplane.

Less than a year later, Bargatze hosted Season 50, Episode 2 on October 5, 2024. He reprized the role of George Washington, while in other skits he portrayed a terrible golfer and a high school football coach.
