US travel forecast

According to AAA, record numbers of travelers are expected between Tuesday and December 2nd. The Transportation Security Administration said it was preparing to screen a record number of passengers at airports across the country.

The coast-to-coast storm began its journey over the weekend as it lashed the West Coast with torrential rain and heavy mountain snow, hitting communities along the busy Interstate 5 corridor from California to Washington.

The storm then pushed east and moved into the Rocky Mountains, dumping snow in Utah and Colorado.

Winter weather advisories remain in effect across the region, with cities including Colorado Springs and Denver under winter weather advisories.

A winter storm will move across the Northeast by Thanksgiving, which could delay last-minute vacation trips, Black Friday shopping or flights home.

Heavy rain is expected in parts of the area into Thursday night. The system will strengthen as it approaches the region, and winds could also increase, causing delays at airports.
