How many inches of snow will Mass., NH get? – NBC Boston

Snow continues to fall across Boston and our snowfall forecasts have now increased due to radar trends and the way a coastal low has moved a little further north.

We are now expecting around 3 inches of snow for Boston from Friday evening through dawn on Saturday. Isolated locations will see 4 inches of snow (northeast inland Massachusetts and inland Plymouth County).

And it looks like the snowfall forecast is only going to continue to rise.

This precipitation turns to rain and a mix and then back to snow after sunset as temperatures rise from above 30°C to around freezing. Inland eastern Massachusetts will also see about 3 inches of snow, while immediate coastal cities will see less snow due to the influence of warmer ocean water.

The impact of this snowfall is greater compared to most smaller snow events because it is the Friday before Christmas and the commute is in the evening.

Low temperatures on Friday evening will drop to 20°C, which could result in patches of ice forming. Thanks to a northwest breeze, our wind chill values ​​will drop to the single digits and 10 digits.

Afternoon highs will reach the low 30s, with sunshine Saturday as we see the winter solstice at 4:21 a.m. Storms with sea effects are also possible on the Outer Cape on both days of this weekend.
