How the Giants feel about slipping up the 2025 draft order

East Rutherford, NJ – In case anyone is wondering if the New York Giants are intentionally caving in to ensure they get the best possible 2025 draft slot, Sunday 45-33 victory over the Indianapolis Coltsa team that needed to win to keep its slim playoff hopes alive should tell you otherwise.

The Giants got solid play in all three phases of possession and survived the comfortable 21-6 lead built in the second quarter, which dissolved into a shootout in which the Giants never relinquished the lead despite the Colts coming close several times.

“I have a lot of confidence in the people in our building and the way they work,” said head coach Brian Daboll. “It’s a credit to the coaches to fight through the injured players, come back, compete and work hard every day, being early and having extra meetings in December when you don’t have a very good record.”

“But there is a process that we believe in and they continue to fight for it. I’m just happy that they can have a smile on their face and win. That’s why I’m proud of the boys. In some games where we lost, I was proud of them. We just have to keep fighting through it.”

The trial and win against the Colts dropped the Giants from the top of the 2025 draft order to No. 4, behind quarterback-needy teams like the Titans and Browns.

“I would say it’s just part of the game,” quarterback Drew Lock said. “When it comes to the draft, this isn’t college. You don’t get to decide where you go when it comes to the draft.

“At the same time, it’s nice to say that we’re going to get to work, we’re going to keep doing this, we’re going to keep pushing. The season isn’t over yet; We still have two games left to win this game – that’s the goal every week: to come out and win and work as hard as we can to get it done.”

Offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor provided perhaps the most eloquent answer when asked what he would say to fans disappointed that the Giants no longer had the first pick.

“You’d rather have your team go out and fight for every inch than lay down and just accept a (defeat),” he said.

“Yes, you get the choice you wanted, but what comes to mind for this player? You have to establish some kind of culture. We’re trying to establish a culture that can lead into next year. As soon as we have more parts here, everything will definitely develop the way the franchise needs it.”
