The Red Wings travel to New England to begin a short two-game road trip. They’re hoping they’ll have a little better luck after a few difficult results on home ice. After a decisive win over the Calgary Flames, Detroit’s offense couldn’t keep up with the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks and lost another back-and-forth game, this time in overtime, to the Canucks on Sunday.

The team also lost goaltender Cam Talbot in the loss, which led to the team calling up Sebastian Cossa from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. Entering December, the Red Wings sit in sixth place in the Atlantic Division, eight points behind the first-place Florida Panthers.

The Bruins are starting to find their rhythm after a difficult start to the season. After the dismissal of former Jack Adams winner Jim Montgomery, Boston is playing much better under interim coach Joe Sacco. After a 6-3 victory over the rival Montreal Canadiens on Sunday, the B’s have won four of their last six games and moved into third place in the division, four points behind the Panthers.

This is the second of three meetings this season between the Bruins and Wings. Boston won the first matchup at LCA last month.
