Hurricanes claim victory over Strikers in high-scoring affair

The Hurricanes got a big win on the road

The Hobart Hurricanes emerged victorious by 11 runs in a high-scoring clash against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval.

After scoring 5-214, the Hurricanes were led by captain Nathan Ellis to reduce the home side’s chase by a few runs to 6-203 as Jamie Overton scored 18 runs in the final over and threatened an unlikely win.

But Ellis took the lead with an economical 1:34, keeping a superb catch to dismiss the dangerous Matt Short at a crucial moment for 52.

Earlier on Friday, Ben McDermott posted the game’s best score of 68 off 34 balls, helping the Hurricanes to a solid total alongside Shai Hope (37 off 22) and Tim David (33 off 14).

It was the Hurricanes’ second win of the season.
