Husker Volleyball’s Lexi Rodriguez breaks Justine Wong-Orantes’ record in NCAA semifinal game

ROB AND JULIE. THANK YOU BILL. The HUSKER VOLLEYBALL TEAM is preparing to warm up for its semifinal game against PENN STATE, and the KETV sports team is on hand with some steaks that could make tonight even more exciting for one player. So let’s go to Andy Kennedy’s home in Louisville, Andy. Hello, ROB. HEY, JULIE. HEY, THE HUSKERS ARE ACTUALLY COMING IN AS WE SPEAK. THEY CALL IT THE RED CARPET WALK. WHILE HUNDREDS OF HUSKER FANS WAIT. THE HUSKERS ENTRANCE. They really could have walked two blocks to the hotel, but it’s a big night for Nebraska. BIG NIGHT FOR LEXI RODRIGUEZ. THE HUSKERS FOUR TIME ALL-AMERICAN ARE CLOSER TO A MAJOR RECORD AS THE SCHOOL’S ALL-TIME RECORD DIGGS. YOU SEE, RODRIGUEZ STARTS TONIGHT EIGHT SIZE AHEAD OF HUSKER GREAT AND Olympian JUSTINE WONG-ORANTES’ RECORD, AND LEXI SAYS IT’S ALMOST SURREAL THAT SHE’S SO CLOSE TO THE RECORD BECAUSE SHE’S HOLDING SO MUCH. IT’S JUST SUCH A GREAT LIBERO AND SUCH A SWEET PERSON, AND SHE’S SOMEONE I’VE ALWAYS LOOKED UP TO SINCE I WAS RECRUITED FROM NEBRASKA. And that’s why it’s just crazy for me to even be in the same conversation with her. BUT YES, SHE WAS JUST SO SUPPORTIVE AND THAT’S REALLY SO AWESOME. YES. AS WE TALK, THE HUSKERS ARE WALKING ON THE RED CARPET. THEY WILL PLAY AGAINST PENN STATE IN THE NATIONAL SEMIFINALS. 30 MINUTES AFTER LOUISVILLE PITT TAKES OVER. The game has just begun. NOW JUSTINE WONG-ORANTES IS EXPECTED TO BE IN THE BUILDING. AND WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE IS WONG-ORANTES HAS NOT SEEN A HUSKER VOLLEYBALL GAME IN PERSON SINCE SHE PLAYED IN IT, AND THAT WAS 2017. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME THE HUSKERS WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. LEXI RODRIGUEZ SHOULD BREAK THE RECORD TONIGHT. We’ll see when they face Penn State. AROUND 8 OR 830. LIVE COVERAGE OUTSIDE KFC YUM!
