“I could probably scratch every guy on the team”: Brunette talks about not scratching Predators stars

It’s been a very difficult season for the Nashville Predators so far and other than Juuse Saros, no player has played like he can.

Andrew Brunette has yet to beat any of the team’s top players, although the performance was far from adequate. He said: “Unfortunately, as I said, I could scratch any man in the team. Will it ever happen at some point? Perhaps.”

The Predators have played 28 games this season, have seven wins and are in last place in the NHL with 20 points. The time should have come already, even if he tried to get the better players going. At some point something has to be done and that would be one of the last decisions Brunette could make to get things going in the room and on the ice.

He continued by saying, “Everyone wants to be held accountable. Everyone wants that, but they don’t like being held accountable. That’s where it gets difficult. And if you have a whole team, they’re probably not playing.” When someone falls short of their abilities or expectations, it’s easy to make the excuse: “How come they don’t get it?” And my point to them is: ‘How about it if you play better?’”

This is one way to address the problem, and no one wants to be left out of games. There is definitely a lot of frustration, there have been so many changes and now there are injuries to deal with.

We’ve already seen some big changes in the NHL this season and I wouldn’t say Nashville has been a part of any of them…until now. This issue may need to be addressed internally at first, but things aren’t looking good for the Predators as things continue the way they have and the disappointment grows.
