Icy rain and snow break up the foggy weather in Idaho

Hello everyone and have a nice Friday!

There’s been nothing but constant fog in the Treasure Valley this week, and if you’re tired of the soup, don’t worry, a new weather pattern is about to shake things up.

The Boise Inversion has resulted in frost and poor visibility at night. Fortunately, a new system is coming that increases the temperatures a little and provides relief.

We’ll discuss all of this soon, but first up is the big game tonight and it will be chilly out on the Blue. Temperatures below freezing and foggy weather are expected to continue until tomorrow.

It will feel exactly the same to start Saturday until a system moves into our region in the evening, bringing with it a few different weather events. The mountains are expected to see 2 to 5 inches of snow, which is fantastic for the ski season. Freezing rain is possible in the western Treasure Valley, so caution is advised when driving between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Lower amounts of snow are expected for the Owyhees, Magic Valley and the southern part of the East Central Mountains.

Even if a cold front moves in, we will see a rise in temperatures through Sunday. This is due to the reversal we are experiencing. It won’t take long to warm up, with steady values in the upper 30s and lower 40s for the rest of the week.

It will be cold through the weekend so dress warmly, but at least the fog will clear after the week begins.
