“I’m not asking for a billion”

“I’m not asking for a billion”

LiAngelo Ball, the brother of Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball and Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, has expressed his desire to make it to the NBA and work alongside his brothers.

LiAngelo appeared in a live streaming video with social media personality and YouTuber N3on on Saturday and spoke about his ambitions for his basketball career.

“I love going to the NBA and playing with my brothers. … It won’t hurt, I’m not asking for a billion,” LiAngelo said.

LiAngelo emphasized that he wouldn’t pose a risk to an NBA team willing to take a chance because he wasn’t demanding a major contract. The undrafted 2018 NBA prospect has yet to appear in an NBA regular season game.

While LiAngelo Ball admitted that he would probably have to play in the G League first, he pointed out that his brothers might have to help him along the way.

“I think that’s how my path has to go. I gotta go to the G-League, do a little movie… And then my brothers gotta put on some weight, honestly,” LiAngelo said.

He also suggested that some NBA teams might be intrigued by the prospect of seeing all three Ball brothers play together.

“Someone will say … let’s see them play together just to test it out,” LiAngelo said. “I just want to play with one of them and see what happens.”

After going undrafted in 2018, LiAngelo Ball was selected with the 14th pick in the 2021 G League Draft. He spent two seasons with the Greensboro Swarm, the Hornets’ G League affiliate. He averaged 7.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 19 games. He shot 49.0% from the field and 44.1% from the 3-point line.

LiAngelo Ball awaits G League offer

In a recent interview on Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast, LiAngelo Ball reiterated his desire to play in the NBA.

His brother Lonzo also took part in the interview and revealed that LiAngelo received offers from foreign teams but turned them down to focus on a G League opportunity.

“He’s not going abroad… We’ve already made him great offers abroad, which he shot down… I wanted him to go abroad. He didn’t want to go abroad,” Lonzo said.

LiAngelo admitted he has turned down offers because he would rather get a deal in the G League.

“I want to get a call from the G League just so I can open doors for them again… I’m going to wait a little longer for the G League,” LiAngelo said.

According to Lonzo, LiAngelo’s best path to the NBA may be to excel in foreign leagues.

“I think his (LiAngelo’s) path is overseas, he’s been overseas. … I feel like you got your chance in Summer League with the Hornets. …You’re going to sit on the bench in the G, or you’re going to go overseas, somewhere nice, and pay 30?” Lonzo added.
