‘Incredible’ Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott among three outstanding Liverpool players – Liverpool FC

Several of Liverpool’s fringe players were praised after Wednesday night’s 2-1 win at Southampton, underlining the Reds’ squad strength.

This Carabao Cup quarter-final never felt like the most important 90 minutes of the season, but it was a great chance for Arne Slot to regroup his team.

That’s exactly what the Dutchman did, giving Liverpool a comfortable 2-0 lead before half-time.

It wasn’t pretty after the break, Southampton got back into the game and threatened to equalize, but the Reds held firm.

These Liverpool fans took to social media and This is AnfieldIn the comments section I would like to give special shout outs to Wataru Endo, Tyler Morton and Harvey Elliott who all shined.

“How good was Endo at CB? Very impressive.”

Michael Hugh in the This is Anfield comments

“I’m not a football expert nor do I want to question Slot, but I see something in Endo that deserves to be given more minutes.”

Marcus Red Sky in the This is Anfield comments

This was a night that perfectly illustrated Liverpool’s backup quality, with so many standout names left out.

Admittedly, the performance wasn’t always convincing, but players like Endo, Morton and Elliott in particular showed their class.

If Liverpool want to fight in all four competitions this season, Slot will need to rotate effectively to avoid tired legs in the spring.

Based on these findings, that shouldn’t be a problem as the Reds are now unbeaten in 20 games in all competitions for the first time since 1996.
