Indiana brings in California QB Fernando Mendoza

Indiana hit the jackpot last year when he landed as Ohio’s starting quarterback Kurtis Rourkeand he helped the Hoosiers go 11-2 and make the playoffs.
The Hoosiers hope to strike twice California Second-year quarterback Fernando Mendozawho also considered Missouri.

Mendoza completed 265 of 386 passes for 3,004 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions and ran 87 times for 105 yards and two scores for the Bears, who finished 6-7. Mendoza did not play in the bowl loss to UNLV.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder proved durable by absorbing 41 sacks, he had four games of more than 299 yards, including a season-high 385 yards and two scores (plus a rushing touchdown) on a 46- 36-win at Wake Wald.

The former Miami (Fla.) Columbus High product was a two-star prospect by Rivals.com. He showed some of his best balls against the colleges in Florida. He threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns, with an interception, in the 39-38 loss to Miami at ESPN College GameDay in town. He also threw for 303 yards and had an interception in a 14-9 loss to Florida State on Sept. 21.

Mendoza initially committed to Yale over Pennsylvania and then signed with California.

The winter college football transfer portal window is scheduled to open for 20 days on December 9, 2024. Additionally, players have a 30-day transfer window if their head coach leaves. There is also a five-day window for players to transfer after their team has completed the postseason. A 10-day transfer window will also open on April 16th.
