Injuries force Inzaghi to use Bastoni in central defense for Inter against Como

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will have little choice against Como but to use Alessandro Bastoni in the middle of the back three.

This emerges from today’s print edition of the Turin newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They note how injuries have forced the Nerazzurri coach into action.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is now facing a full-blown injury crisis.

The Nerazzurri coach had to be without Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard for several weeks due to injuries.

As a result, Inzaghi was unable to rotate his squad extensively.

But Inter have just about managed it in the last few weeks. They relied on the very solid performances of Alessandro Bastoni, Stefan de Vrij and Yann Bisseck.

However, things have become even more difficult for Inzaghi to manage.

Yesterday, Inzaghi confirmed that he will be missing two more options for the three-man chain.

De Vrij has suffered a minor injury. Just like Matteo Darmian.

Therefore, at most this pair is likely to be on the bench against Como this evening.

As far as the starting XI is concerned, the starting XI of Bastoni and Bisseck has become absolutely necessary.

And according to Tuttosport, Inzaghi would prefer to play Bisseck in the middle of the back three.

The German had a good performance there last week in the Coppa Italia against Udinese. Darmian started on the right, Bastoni on the left.

But if Darmian is out, it also means that there will be no one left to cover the right side of the back three.

That’s why Bisseck will play there tonight. Then Bastoni will play in the middle and Carlos Augusto will start on the left.
