Inter Milan coach stresses: ‘We need the real Inter’ against Cagliari – also offers fitness updates on former Bayern Munich, Man United and Lazio stars

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi believes his team needs to show the “real” version of themselves against Cagliari tonight.

Inzaghi spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN via FCInterNews ahead of today’s Serie A clash against Rossoblu. He also provided information about the fitness of Benjamin Pavard, Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi.

On paper, Inter are certainly the favorites in tonight’s game.

The Nerazzurri are the reigning champions of Italy. And this season they are right at the top of the table, even if the field is much more crowded than last time.

Cagliari, on the other hand, is in the last three places in the table.

The Sardinians won’t be too surprised that they have a relegation battle on their hands.

But the results arguably didn’t match Cagliari’s performances this season. Especially in the last few weeks.

For example, Cagliari had good chances of a result against Fiorentina and Atalanta.

In addition, Davide Nicola’s team will play in front of home fans today. That could certainly be a factor.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said: “We need a strong start.”

“We have been coming here to Cagliari for many years,” said the Nerazzurri coach. “The fans here really push the team forward, they’re good at starting games strong.”

“But we have prepared,” said Inzaghi.

“We need to get off to a better start than we have in the last few games.”

“Even in great moments of form, you can improve every day,” emphasized Inzaghi.

Inzaghi noted: “We know that the Supercoppa is ahead of us and that is very important for us.”

“But at the moment our only thought is Cagliari.”

“They have had three defeats in a row. But these defeats came despite excellent performances.”

“They are a very well-organized team tactically,” Inzaghi said of Cagliari. “You have a good coach.”

“We have to play like the real Inter,” the coach made clear.

Inzaghi also noted: “We had five days after Como to prepare for this.”

“We celebrated Christmas with our families,” said the Inter coach.

“We brought de Vrij back from injury,” Inzaghi noted. The Dutchman is back in the starting line-up this evening.
