Iowa Hawkeyes star RB is becoming a fast NFL riser

The Iowa Hawkeyes were led offensively by star running back Kaleb Johnson.

Going into the season, Iowa expected a big year from the talented running back. However, they had no idea what kind of season he would actually experience.

During the 2024 college football season to this point, Johnson has accumulated 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns on 240 carries. Those numbers average an impressive 6.4 yards per carry.

In addition to his rushing totals, Johnson also caught 22 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

That being said, the Hawkeyes star’s future is just around the corner. He could return to Iowa for another year, but it seems much more likely that he will play in the NFL next year.

AtoZ Sports has Johnson listed as one of their fastest risers for the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Even with defenses fully aware of his running habits, Johnson has averaged an astonishing 8.8 yards per carry on runs outside left tackle and 7.1 yards per run outside right tackle. He’s also powerful on inside runs, averaging 5.3 yards per run left and right.” 7.5 yards to the right poses a threat whether he’s shooting past linemen and linebackers or shooting through defensive backs Top- 40 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.”

Looking ahead to the 2025 draft, there are a few teams that could use some running back help. Johnson has a good chance of becoming the second running back in the draft class.

Ashton Jeanty appears to be the clear top running back candidate in the country. Behind him, there is no one who has made as much of an impact as Johnson.

It will be interesting to see where Johnson ends up in the NFL. He has the talent and potential to be an all-around workhorse right away at the next level.

He needs to be put in the right situation, but his future couldn’t be brighter.
