Iowa State football falls flat against Arizona State in the Big 12 Championship

ARLINGTON, Texas – Iowa State football came south determined to return home with the program’s first conference championship in over a century.

The only thing the Cyclones bring back to Ames, however, are the bruised bodies and egos that only a good old-fashioned butt-kicking can bring.

On the biggest stage, Iowa State flopped.

Saturday’s 45-19 loss to Arizona State in the Big 12 championship game probably said more about the first-worst Sun Devils and their potential deficit as Heisman finalists than it did about the Cyclones. Still, that doesn’t obscure the truth or ease the pain.

The Cyclones were completely destroyed. Steam rolled. Fogging.
