Ja Morant gets cut in Grizzlies-Kings

Ja Morant gets cut in Grizzlies-Kings

The Memphis Grizzlies entered Thursday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings with a record of 14-8. Looking to continue their success as one of the best teams in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies hosted Sacramento on Thursday.

This was an important game for both teams as the Grizzlies look to maintain their top-four status in the West while Sacramento looks to win its second straight game and reverse a disappointing start to the year. Both teams are led by their star point guards, with De’Aaron Fox leading the way for Sacramento and Ja Morant leading the Grizzlies’ attack.

Morant was frustrated with the officials throughout the game, leading to his ejection in the fourth quarter. Morant finished the night with just eight points, seven assists and three rebounds in 28 minutes of play and suffered a second technical foul, which was an automatic ejection.

Morant converted just two of his 13 field goal attempts in the game and missed all six of his three-point attempts. This was a very strange game for the Grizzlies as their starting lineup struggled for most of the game while their bench kept them in the game.

Despite Morant’s struggles in that game, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins likely intended to finish with him. Since this was no longer possible after this ejection, Jenkins had to go to the bench.
