Jamie Foxx is receiving stitches after a glass was thrown at him during a fight at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills, a spokesman says

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) — Jamie Foxx required stitches and was recovering after a glass was thrown at him at a Beverly Hills restaurant Friday night, a representative for the Oscar-winning actor said.

Foxx “was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” the actor’s rep said in a statement to ABC7 on Saturday. “He required stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in the hands of law enforcement.”

According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow Restaurant on Camden Drive just after 10 p.m.

Officers determined that the report was unfounded and that the incident was, rather, “a physical altercation between the parties,” a news release said.

The police department “conducted a preliminary investigation and prepared a report documenting the battery,” the department said. There were no arrests.

Jamie Foxx is speaking out for the first time about the mysterious health scare that left him hospitalized for more than 20 days.

The department “remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will continue to investigate this matter,” the statement said.

No further details were immediately released by police or Foxx’s spokesman. It was unclear whether the actor was involved in the fight or an innocent bystander.

Foxx recently opened up about the medical emergency he faced last year, revealing that he had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.

The actor opened up about the struggles he faced with his health last year in a Netflix special released on Tuesday called “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.”

“It’s a mystery,” he said while appearing on stage. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me.”
