Jamie Lee Curtis reveals the secret to her 40-year marriage to husband Christopher Guest

The 66-year-old actress made an appearance on Today this Wednesday ahead of their 40th wedding anniversary, which begins December 18th.

The conversation with show co-host Hoda Kotb turned to Curtis’ relationship with the 76-year-old This is Spinal Tap director, when Kotb asked, “Do you guys just continue to grow together?” What is that?”

“You know what, that’s it,” he said Halloween actress began. “At the end of the day, Chris wasn’t a director when I married him, I wasn’t a writer. Chris wasn’t a producer when I married him, I wasn’t a producer when he married me. We grew into these new jobs.” That’s what we did.”

“He still makes me laugh more than any other person and I’m sure he likes something about me,” she added.

Curtis, who married Guest in 1984 after dating for just six months, recalled in a previous interview how their whirlwind romance began with an awkward beginning.

“I called his agent and left my number, he never called me,” she said during the Dec. 3 episode Jimmy Kimmel Live! show.

“We met at a restaurant, he went like this (wave), I went like this (wave), he called me the next day. We went out.”

Jamie also recounted how Guest initially proposed randomly over a payphone before going to “Cartier to buy this exact ring on my finger.”

“He shot SNL in New York and I shot the film Perfect. I was on what’s called a pay phone where you put coins in it and I remember we were talking and I said, ‘What did you do today?'” Curtis joked.

“And then in typical boy fashion: ‘Do you like diamonds?’ Well, I’m telling the truth. Then he came to Los Angeles and… Well, he proposed in a more private and intimate way. The couple had two daughters, Annie (38) and Ruby (26).

On the work front, Curtis is filming Crazy Friday Sequel with Lindsay Lohan and also appears alongside Pamela Anderson in the new film The Last Showgirl. She also co-produced Prime Video’s new series The sticky one.
