Jayden Daniels relies on fellow rookie QBs

There is a lot of debate among NFL fans about which rookie quarterback is the best from the class of 2024. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is the leading contender for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, with Denver Broncos’ Bo Nix right behind him.

No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears) has struggled this season but still showed positive signs. Michael Penix Jr. (Atlanta Falcons) will make his second start this week, while Drake Maye (New England Patriots) has looked like a budding superstar at times.

Every fan base has been vocal about their man being the best rookie quarterback. Some analysts weigh in on the quarterbacks on a weekly basis, using their platform to interact based on which rookie passer had the best game that week.

As for Daniels, he’s not making a strong case against anyone in his draft class. In fact, he wants his fellow rookie quarterbacks to be the best class ever.

“Man, I mean, I’m happy for everyone in our draft class,” Daniels told NBC Sports’ Chris Simms before Sunday night’s game between the Commanders and Falcons. “I think my draft class was kind of super tight-knit, especially outside of the quarterbacks.”

Simms then asked Daniels how he got along with the other rookie quarterbacks off the field.

“Absolutely, yeah, I mean, I keep up with all these guys and how they play. I mean, obviously I’m playing against Mike (Penix) this week. And I’m talking to Mike. We always check in with each other. I follow what Bo (Nix) is doing. He does a phenomenal job. Caleb over there doing his thing. You got Drake over there doing his thing. So it was great to see these guys thrive in their different situations and, you know, still go out there and play with confidence, play football and have fun doing it.”

Daniels then discussed how he trained with Penix before the draft and built the relationship between them, praising Penix’s arm strength, accuracy and ability to always throw in a spiral.

Even though fans argue among themselves on social media, these guys are all rooting for each other. Sunday’s game against the Falcons will be the second game Daniels has played against another rookie quarterback this season. Daniels and Washington defeated Williams and the Bears in the Hail Mary game in Week 8.
