It will be difficult to achieve goals by Thursday at Canada Life Centre. The Winnipeg Jets allowed the second-fewest goals per game (2.53) and the Vegas Golden Knights conceded the ninth-fewest (2.89).

Goaltending was key for Winnipeg, with Connor Hellebuyck posting a game-high .927 save percentage, 2.09 GAA and 0.75 goals saved above average per 60 minutes. It’s no surprise that he’s the betting favorite in the Vezina Trophy odds.

It was a similar story for the Golden Knights: Vegas finished eighth with a solid team save percentage of .900. Of course, No. 1 goaltender Adin Hill is also in top form with a .922 SV%, a 2.16 GAA and a 0.43 GSAA/60 in his last 13 starts.

He’s been a big reason the Golden Knights have cleaned up defensively lately, allowing just 2.4 goals per game over the last ten games, and of course, Vegas captain Mark Stone has only been in the lineup for 14 of 28 games.

I also appreciate the tape measure aspect of this game between the Western Conference powerhouses. I expect both teams to pay particular attention to defensive details early on in order to limit scoring chances.

Additionally, Winnipeg is 10-3 at home but only allows 2.38 goals per game, and Vegas doesn’t have the same offensive output on the road, allowing 3.07 goals per game compared to 3.93 at T-Mobile Arena.
