Jim Caldwell’s prediction | The temperatures are slowly starting to rise

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – After a cold and snowy period, the region is in for a welcome respite.

The snow has finally settled and temperatures are expected to ease by Friday with highs reaching the mid 40s. This return to near-normal temperatures will be a relief for many, especially those confined indoors due to the inclement weather.

However, this reprieve will be short-lived as another significant system will move across the country on Saturday. This strong storm will bring a mix of wind, warmth, rain and snow, although our region will only see wind, rain and warmth.

High temperatures are expected to rise to around 50 to 55 degrees on Saturday, making it feel almost mild compared to the recent cold snap. However, the rain will continue until later in the day, with showers blowing from west to east in the evening hours. This timing may impact those who want to do some last minute Christmas shopping on Saturday. Be sure to pack an umbrella and dress accordingly.

Sunday looks to be the wettest day in the forecast as the system continues to sweep through the region. This could result in a humid and miserable day, especially for those who have planned outdoor activities. Again, shoppers may want to plan their trips accordingly or consider shopping online to avoid the wet weather altogether.

Looking at the longer term forecast, there are indications that winter could coincide with the actual start of the season. However, there is still too much uncertainty at this point to make any definitive predictions. We’ll need to keep a close eye on the weather forecast in the coming days to see if wintry weather patterns emerge.

Take care of each other!
