Jimmy Johnson and Andy Reid said goodbye to Michael Vick with great advice

Michael Vick is ending his time as a member of the Fox NFL family and beginning a new chapter as head coach of the Norfolk State Spartans football team.

Before he left, his Fox family had lots of good advice and congratulations for him.

If there’s anyone Vick can learn from before becoming the head coach of a college football program, it’s Jimmy Johnson. Before winning the Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys, Johnson won national titles with the Miami Hurricanes. And he had some sage advice for the new coach.

“Some of the advice Jimmy gave me last week was some of the best, and I know that because everyone said to me, ‘You better do what Jimmy Johnson told you last week,'” Vick said. “Between coaches and just finding the right players, doing a careful search and trying to get it right. And you know, Jimmy’s phone won’t stop ringing.”

Johnson gave Vick some more advice on how to run a program and be a leader.

“Great players make great coaches,” Johnson said. “To create the right culture, you need everyone in the organization, every secretary, every backup offensive guard, everyone. And when you do that, interact with everyone in the organization because no one wants to be ignored. And above all, no one likes to be ignored by the leader. And you’re the leader now.”

Johnson wasn’t the only head coach to offer Vick some congratulations. Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, for whom Vick worked as an intern after his playing career, shared his thoughts in a recorded message.

“Man, is this school lucky to have you,” Reid told Vick. “You’ll do a great job. These children are probably the luckiest in that they can learn from you. You will be great. You will be great for the university. I love you and know you will do a great job for her, so all the best for the future. I’m a Norfolk fan now.”

“I love this man more than anything,” Vick said afterwards.

It’s safe to say that a lot of people are supporting Michael Vick as he begins a new journey with Norfolk State.
