According to WLWT’s Karin Johnson and Emily Sanderson, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s home was broken into on Monday night during the team’s 27-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

A woman called 911 and said her daughter was staying at Burrow’s home and an intruder was trying to gain entry.

Johnson and Sanderson reported a bedroom window was broken and the room was “ransacked.”

This comes after NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported in November that the NFL had alerted players and team security directors to a growing trend of burglars targeting the homes of NFL and NBA athletes.

Pelissero quoted a source who said a “transnational crime ring” was at the center of the situation.

“Several people with knowledge of the crimes said the perpetrators were non-confrontational and would not break into homes while residents were inside,” he reported. “Instead, they use public records to find players’ addresses and conduct extensive surveillance. They then follow the teams’ schedules and the social media accounts of the players and their families and wait until the houses are empty – often during games – and then quickly gain entry, stealing items such as cash, jewelry, watches, and more Handbags, focusing mainly on master bedrooms and closets.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs are among the stars who have fallen victim.

Professional athletes represent obvious targets because their work schedules are published and easily accessible. The NFL announced its full regular season schedule in May.

In Burrow’s case, he and the Bengals weren’t even in Cincinnati, but instead traveled to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas Monday Night Football.

With the victory, the team maintained its slim chances of making it into the playoffs. Meanwhile, Burrow continued his monster year by throwing for 369 yards and three touchdowns.
