Jon Stewart has explained why he agrees with Joe Biden pardoning his son Hunter Biden for criminal convictions.

The outgoing US president, who has less than two months left in office before Donald Trump takes power, has granted his son clemency for gun and tax crimes – even though he vowed not to do so

In June, Hunter, 54, was convicted of three federal weapons charges related to the 2018 purchase of a firearm. Three months later, he pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges in September.

While Whoopi Goldberg has defended Biden on this move, arguing that presidents often issue questionable pardons, many are particularly frustrated with the president for previously claiming he wouldn’t do it.

Stewart addressed the topic The Daily Showexplained on Monday (December 2): “Mother, that was us So close. But you know what? Well, OK, well, it’s good, it’s right, it’s his right. He is an 82-year-old man and does not want to spend the rest of his life visiting his son in prison.”

But the only reason he’s not completely upset is because he believes “Republicans always get away with this shit.”

Stewrat added: “I am sure that the pardon is a succinctly worded, precisely drawn farewell letter of compassion for a loved one.”

He then mocked Biden’s statement in which he said the pardon was for crimes “that his son has committed or may have committed or was involved in.”

But panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back on that idea, pointing out that she has an “immediate family member” who has been “in and out of prison” for addiction issues and whose record cannot be expunged in hopes of keeping his family safe expand employment opportunities.

Griffin, a former member of Trump’s White House communications team, said Hunter’s pardon “feeds the idea in much of this country that there are simply different rules for those in power.”

However, Goldberg suspected that Biden may have changed his mind after saying he would not pardon his son. She told her panelists: “I think Biden had no intention of pardoning Hunter.

“I think the more things fell to the ground, he said, why am I busting my butt to stay upright and do this when no one else is doing it?”
