Josh Allen shares how Hailee Steinfeld surprised him with marriage talks before he proposed

Buffalo Bills quarterback and NFL star Josh Allen recently revealed in the Beau Society newsletter that the day he planned to propose to his actress girlfriend (now fiancé) Hailee Steinfield, she asked him why not right away could get married, which is what he’s been waiting for. Little did she know that her boyfriend, soon to be her fiancé, had already planned to propose to her that day.

Hailee Steinfeld asked Josh Allen about his marriage plans

Josh recalled the beautiful day that followed a beautiful proposal on the beach and spoke about the event. He said they just woke up and Hailee started asking him about his wedding plans. He said: “The funniest thing was we woke up and got ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said, ‘Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!’ This Surprised Me When asked by his actress girlfriend who he actually planned to propose to that day, Allen deflected the question by saying he needed “a little more time to decide about marrying her.”

Although he didn’t reveal how Hailee reacted to his answer, one might assume that Hailee was a bit disappointed with his answer since they’ve been together for more than a year. After being spotted on vacation last year in May 2023, both Josh and Hailee have been quite active and public with their relationship since July of this year.

How Josh Allen managed to keep everything a secret from Hailee Steinfeld

Coming back to the interview, Josh also remembered the beautiful moments of their proposal and what went into the planning and keeping it a secret from Hailee. In an adorable moment, Josh also revealed how difficult it was to keep this lovely plan from Hailee as he wanted to surprise her and didn’t want her to know about it. He said: “It was hard keeping secrets from you and getting other people in your life to keep secrets from you,” he said. “Then a song came on several times throughout the day and I had tears in my eyes as I thought about how special our day was going to be.”

Funnily enough, Josh didn’t want to mess up his words or forget something because of the stress when he proposed to the love of his life that day. Apparently, he had written a proposal script that covered everything he wanted his actress girlfriend Hailee to listen to before she accepted his proposal. During the question and answer session with the Beau Society newsletter, he also revealed that he would read through the scripts so that he doesn’t forget anything important.
Josh and Hailee’s marriage proposal was a beautiful event that they will remember for the rest of their lives. In the same Q&A, Hailee revealed her feelings and said, “All the happy tears have just dried. Whenever we tell the story, look back at photos, or even say, ‘We’re engaged’ or ‘We’re getting married,’ I start to cry.”
