Skeleton crew is not a show seemingly aimed at solving the world’s great mysteries star Wars Galaxy – it’s an adventure show about kids getting lost in space, rather than our main insight into the future of the galaxy as a whole or what’s going on with the movers and shakers of the intergalactic conflict. But that doesn’t mean the show doesn’t do that have Mystery, and it certainly has a lot of it, especially in the form of one character: Jude Law’s peculiar character, Jod Na Nawood.

Well Nawood, star WarsDamn name aside, he’s been a constant mystery leading up to the series – is he really a hidden Jedi? What exactly appeals to him about helping the children find their way home? “There is a kind of increased life force in it star Warswhere people actually deal with the great battle between good and evil over who basically rules the galaxy. And then, just like in life on Earth, there are the people who are just surviving,” Law told io9 about Jod’s place in the universe that informs the series. “If you think about the extremes of uprisings, revolutions and battles… much of the galaxy is at war. And when you’re at war, people really have to survive on crumbs – and there’s a great story, a great structure behind it. How do you get involved? Are you not involved? Are you just surviving the day?

“The interesting thing about Jod to me is that he’s clearly in this quagmire, surviving and taking care of himself, and has probably been that way for most of his life, even most of it,” Law continued. But why Is Do you want to stay on the sidelines? “You know, as we’ve already suggested, he’s Force sensitive. How this comes into his life and why and whether he uses it and whether we will reveal more is part of the mystery. But I think it gives it a very interesting texture.”

I won’t tell you which one! But yeah, it’s a reference to a character from a very early comic.”

“We learn that Jod was referred to by multiple names (in the first few episodes),” Watts teased to io9. “I like to imagine his character having the same conversation (about his name) and figuring out: Is that actually his real name? Or did he make one up? star Wars names too? He thought ‘Na Nawood’ would sound more Jedi-like.”

“Some of the names, as we were developing them, we ported them into different languages and found that they ended up being kind of changed and distorted,” Ford added. “I think that’s how (Dave Filoni) came up with Ahsoka, that maybe it’s derived from a Sanskrit name or something. Maybe someone has discovered that “Na Nawood” actually has a different linguistic origin and means something.”
