Justin Baldoni still remembers his almost 30-minute marriage proposal to his wife Emily Baldoni.

When visiting Live with Kelly and Mark on Tuesday, December 10th to promote the Netflix release of It ends with usThe 40-year-old actor and filmmaker complimented the show’s hosts – who are married in real life – before discussing the start of his own marriage.

When Justin sat down for his interview, he called Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos “adorable” and explained that their connection was inspiring.

Ripa, 54, and Consuelos, who have been married since 1996, noted that Justin and Emily have also been together for a long time and celebrated their 11th anniversary in July.

“In Hollywood, that’s like 70 years or something,” he added of their 11-year marriage.

While we were delving into Emily, Ripa thought it would be a good time to show viewers how Justin popped the question.

“So you went viral when you got engaged. There was a social media post about your involvement. Apparently you lip-sync,” Ripa added before releasing an abridged version of the 27-minute proposal.

Although the television version opened with a hilarious clip of Justin in white tossing feathers while singing in a pseudo-boy band – reminiscent of the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” music video – the actual version started off a little quieter .

Justin explains in the original clip that on April 13, 2013, he set up hidden cameras at Blu Jam Café, the restaurant where they had their first date.

He had told Emily he would be late, but had rented out the restaurant for a special occasion.

As she sat down, his pre-filmed proposal began playing. At the bottom of his camera feed was a real-time video of their reactions.

The video, which included a mini-movie in which a secret agent asks Justin to meet Emily at Blu Jam Cafe, also featured a montage of their happiest moments before he made it to the restaurant to propose in person.

After the shortened version the game continued LiveConsuelos, 53, asked Justin if he knew the guys in the music video scenes. The Jane the Virgin Star happily said the men were some of his best friends.

“It was a 27-minute proposal video. It was actually my first film,” Justin said.

“It was a big joke. The whole idea was that I failed at all of these proposals because I proposed in a way that I wanted and not in a way that she wanted,” he explained.

“That’s something I learned in marriage, and I’m sure you learned it: how to love someone the way they want to be loved, and not the way we wanted to be loved. So that was the whole path of the proposal.”
