Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie scored to help Juventus to a 2-0 win over Manchester City against Manchester City on Wednesday.

City, who lifted the 2023 Champions League Trophy, continued a poor run of form that has brought just one win in their last 10 games in all competitions.

“You can see that sometimes an action we miss the ball or lose a duel and you see that we immediately fall,” City midfielder Ilkay Gündogan told Amazon Prime.

“It’s having such a big impact on us right now. At the crucial moment, we’re doing the wrong things right now.”

Vlahovic scored in the 53rd minute when Kenan Yildiz penetrated the ball, and the Serbians’ header, according to GOALINE technology, hit the ball and the Serbians’ close-range header past the city guard, Éderson and directly opposite.

City picked up the pace in a desperate bid to equalize, sending numbers forward, but Juve capitalized on their advantage against the run of play when McKennie turned in Timothy Weah’s cross with a superb volley in the 75th minute.

Pep Guardiola’s team wasted several chances, one of the best being Erling Haaland’s tight miss in the first half. Kevin de Bruyne sent a lovely ball to the Norwegian, who got behind the defense before trying to chip at goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who threw his arm up to block the shot.

Gündogan unleashed a blistering strike from the long reach that stretched Di Gregorio only to push wide.

With two games remaining in the Champions League group stage, Juventus are 14th in the table, while City plunged to 22nd, moving three places out of automatic elimination from the competition.

Since the start of November, City have conceded more goals (21) in all competitions than any other team in Europe’s Big Five leagues, the worst spell of Guardiola’s otherwise sparkling managerial career.
