Kathryn Hahn, the lead actress of “Agatha All Along,” narrates the Disneyland Candlelight Processional – Orange County Register

The Disney celebrity’s secret identity, usually kept secret until the last moment to surprise VIP visitors invited to Disneyland’s annual Candlelight Processional, has been revealed for this holiday season.

“WandaVision” and “Agatha All Along” star Kathryn Hahn will narrate the 2024 Candlelight Procession at Disneyland on Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., respectively, according to Mickey Visit.

The Emmy nominee for “Transparent” and “Tiny Beautiful Things” also appeared on the big screen in “Glass Onion” and “Bad Moms.”

Disneyland rarely officially announces the Candlelight Processional’s celebrity narrator in advance.

Most years, the narrator’s secret identity is revealed on social media as the celebrity rehearses before the Candlelight Processional on Main Street USA – in full view of thousands of Disneyland visitors with smartphones.

Between the songs, the prominent narrator tells the story of the first Christmas. Previous narrators have included Cary Grant, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, Dick Van Dyke, Kurt Russell, Molly Ringwald, John Stamos, Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jane Seymour, Chris Pratt , Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sterling K. Brown and James Earl Jones.

The 2023 Disneyland Candlelight narrator was Captain Marvel and The Marvels star Brie Larson.

The Disneyland Candlelight Ceremony tradition began in 1958 when Walt Disney wanted to express his gratitude to the Orange County community where his first theme park was located.

Each year, the 600-member Candle Choir parades through Main Street USA and performs two performances each evening in Disneyland’s Town Square. Singers include Disney employees and members of local community choirs, performing along with a live orchestra, handbell players and fanfare trumpeters.

Reserved seating is limited to a few hundred invited guests, including community members, civic leaders, media and VIPs.

A limited number of standing areas are available near City Hall, the Opera House and behind the Town Square seating area on a first come, first served basis.

Disneyland does little to promote the candlelight procession to uninvited guests, but it is possible to see the shows if you don’t have reserved tickets.

Candlelight fans have been known to wait all day for the limited standing room behind the seating area. For those who don’t want to wait, there is an opportunity to listen to the ceremony along Main Street and see the choir set up on pedestals shaped like a Christmas tree.

The second show each evening tends to be less crowded for visitors who want to watch the ceremony behind the seating areas.

Hosting a private event in the middle of a theme park during operating hours presents Disneyland with a number of challenges – from attraction operations to show planning to crowd management.

The crowded and busy special event results in pedestrian traffic being blocked near the park’s main entrance. Backstage passageways behind Main Street USA shops are typically open during candlelight performances to ease congestion in the busy area.

Crews set up the candlelight stage under the Main Street station and placed hundreds of folding chairs in the Town Square between Disneyland City Hall and the Opera House.

In previous years, the Candlelight Ceremony limited ride times on the Disneyland Railroad, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Jungle Cruise and Main Street rides. The ceremony also impacted the opening hours of businesses around Town Square, including the Mad Hatter and Disney Galleries.
