Kellen Moore: I want to increase the likelihood that the ball goes to AJ Brown

Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown’s comments that the team’s passing offense needs to improve after Sunday’s 22-16 win over the Panthers was the biggest talking point of the week in Philadelphia, and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore got the opportunity to weigh in to take it Tuesday.

Moore said he speaks with Brown and other members of the offense every week and said “the flow of seasons” requires weekly conversations about how to get the most out of the passing offense. Part of that process for this week is finding ways to get the ball to Brown after he was targeted four times against Carolina.

“I’m going to focus more on finding different ways to increase the likelihood of the ball going to him,” Moore said in a team transcript. “Ultimately, the quarterback has to play based on how the defense responds and trust that there will be progress within a play. For us, we’re always going to be looking at how we can get there quicker and create those opportunities. It’s really about probability. It’s not possible to say 100 percent in every game that it will go to a specific player, but how can we improve our chances there?”

The Eagles have won nine straight games, so their approach has worked despite the frustrations Brown shared last weekend. The team’s key goals this weekend include not allowing frustrations to grow and maintaining their winning streak.
