KFC opens Saucy, a new tender-focused fried chicken restaurant

KFC is expanding its fried chicken empire.

On Monday, December 23, fast food chain Saucy opened a new concept store in Orlando.

Unlike KFC restaurants, which sell everything from fried chicken pieces to nuggets to chicken sandwiches, the new company focuses on crispy chicken tenders. The tenders are served with a choice of 11 signature sauces – a nod to the flagship’s famous 11 herbs and spices in the chicken breading.

With nearly a dozen to choose from, there’s probably a sauce for every type of dunker. Flavors range from traditional (like Sweet and Spicy BBQ, Spicy Ranch and Creole Honey Mustard) to a collection of ranches (including Chimichurri Ranch, Peri Peri Ranch, Jalapeño Pesto Ranch and Smokey Bacon Ranch) to Asian-inspired blends (like Thai Sweet and spicy, tangy mango chutney and sweet teriyaki).

The tenders and sauces can be paired with toasted Hawaiian rolls, crinkle-cut fries and the chain’s coleslaw.

Saucy also offers tender meat sanwiches, such as a crispy chicken sandwich and a spicy queso crunch sandwich – as well as a few desserts, such as a chocolate mousse cake or key lime pie.

According to a press release, the customization-focused restaurant offers guests options that allow for “over 4,000 different ways” to order.

Guests can order at a drive-thru or kiosks, but are also invited to take a seat in the pink and orange restaurant. The fast food spot also plans to introduce “live entertainment” to create a “perfect community epicenter,” according to a press release.

There are plans to open additional Saucy locations across the country “soon,” but timing and locations are not being determined, the release said.

Fans with a fried chicken craving outside of Florida can turn their attention to McDonald’s.

The burger chain is offering customers 10 Chicken McNuggets for $1 through December 30th. The discount is redeemable in the McDonald’s app and is updated weekly, giving nugget-loving customers the chance to claim the offer twice before 2025.
