KFC’s new “Saucy!” concept opens Monday in East Orlando

Capitalizing on the popularity of condiments, Kentucky Fried Chicken’s new concept, Saucy!, is opening its first location on Monday (December 23) at 502 S. Alafaya Trail in Orlando’s Waterford Lakes neighborhood.

The centerpiece of this new eatery’s menu are 11 unique sauces (a fun homage to the 11 herbs and spices often touted in the Colonel’s original recipe) that allow customers to celebrate what the brand calls “the star of every delicate meal.” referred to as: sauce. ”

“Everyone is obsessed with sauce – more is more,” KFC Chief Concept Officer Christophe Poirier said in a press release. “With Saucy, we have taken KFC’s famous original recipe and expanded it with a brand new concept that gives consumers the opportunity to play with taste. You can choose a combination, choose a range of sauces or, my personal favorite, mix sauces and sides to create your perfect meal. We’re sauce people, not math people, but we tried to calculate it and there seem to be over 4,000 different ways to order from Saucy and have a different taste experience every time.”

When the store opens, five different sauces will be available, including various ranch sauces (Chimichurri, Peri Peri, Jalapeno Pesto, Saucy and Smoky Bacon), as well as Thai Sweet ‘N’ Spicy, Sweet ‘N’ Saucy BBQ, Saucy’s Sauce and Spicy mango chutney, Creole honey mustard and sweet teriyaki.

Customers can order the sauces individually or in groups of four with small batch hand-breaded chicken fillets of their choice. Sides include Hawaiian rolls, crinkle-cut fries and coleslaw. You can also go straight to sandwich options like EZ Crispy or Spicy Queso Crunch or order a combination. A three-piece tender meal includes a toasted bun, fries, medium drink and choice of sauce for $7.99.

Pink is the new red when it comes to design. Customers can expect a bold view of the thoroughfares and inside, where they can order from kiosks between familiar reds paired with wild, bright pinks.

Orlando’s diverse demographic makes it a prime location to launch the new brand, and the Saucy app (available on the App Store and Google Play) features 30 points of personalization to accommodate customer preferences.

“Saucy is unlike anything else on the market,” Poirier said. “If we focus on sauces, we can be as creative as we want.”

While the opening number will be 11, Poirier says that in the future they envision limited-edition and trend-inspired sauces developed in response to the consumer’s evolving taste buds.

“Tell us what you’d like to see next,” he said. “If you’ve already mastered great chicken, the sauce becomes the fun part.”
