Lakers rookie signed with Steph Curry’s brand after emotional meeting with Hero

Back on October 18th, Los Angeles Lakers guard Quincy Olivari gave NBA fans the feel-good moment of the preseason.

In the Lakers’ stunning 132-74 loss to the Golden State Warriors, Olivari scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. After the game, Olivari ran into Warriors guard Stephen Curry – an encounter that brought Olivari, who idolized Curry as a child, to tears.

Now it seems that Olivari’s candor made for a tense, heartwarming finale. On Friday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Rice and Xavier product has signed a shoe endorsement deal with Curry Brand.

Olivari has played in five games for the G-League’s South Bay Lakers this season, averaging 21.4 points per game over a five-game stretch.

“I don’t even know what to say, man,” Olivari said after meeting Curry. “This is my favorite player ever. The first thing he said to me was, ‘I’m a big fan of your game.’ And to be honest, I’m a big fan of his.

Given the rumored new partnership, it seems like Curry and Olivari haven’t seen the last of each other yet.
