Partner, we continue to wait for this to get started. The latest WoFS ensemble forecasts indicate that we will see a potential increase in activity across southeast Mississippi over the next few hours. This is consistent with the expectation that richer, low-level moisture will move northward through this area over the next few hours. If we manage to develop a mature supercell thunderstorm, all severe threats are possible with damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, large hail up to the size of a golf ball, and tornadoes (there is a possibility of a long track and/or EF2+ – tornadoes). As the evening begins, wind strength steadily increases and our thunderstorm coverage begins to increase from west to east. We continue to expect several discrete supercells from early evening into the overnight hours, followed by a QLCS late evening into the overnight hours. With individual storms, the dangers remain the same as in the afternoon hours. The potential for some strong tornadoes remains for the QLCS, but the damaging wind threat (including gusts exceeding 75 mph) increases significantly. The threat of hail will be low in the QLCS, but the discrete supercells will still be capable of producing large hail. The greatest threat remains west of the I-65 corridor until 8:00 p.m. CST.
